Tennessee 73 South Carolina 69 - Quick Thoughts

I got to see the entire 2nd half last night and got exactly what I expected after seeing we were up 17 - the Vols aren't going to be able to finish them off without it getting close. Some of that has to do with playing at USC, but it mostly has to do with the Vols. I am thrilled every time we score the basketball because there are stretches where it looks like we will never score again.

I predicted a good game from Tobias Harris and he had one. I think he could be a beast next year if he comes back, but with such a weak draft class this year it wouldn't surprise me if he left (Hopson too).

Hopson is the Franchise right now, which is why we are what we are - really good sometimes, not very good other times. Did anyone catch his moody reaction in the huddle that had Pearl trying to correct it before they hit the floor? That guy is our best player and leader. We are what we are.

Melvin Goins continues to frustrate at the point, Tatum disappears on the floor, McBee is the best shooter in the country who never makes a shot...this team drives me nuts.

On the other hand, a road win in the SEC is still a road win and one without Brian Williams. Steven Pearl stepped up last night even if Kenny Hall did not.

What troubles me about this team is how I cannot picture them winning an NCAA game anymore. Maybe I'm shortchanging Pearl, Hopson, and the depth of the squad, but all I see is one-and-done.
